OVARIAN STIMULATION AND INTRAUTERINE INSEMINATION (IUI) INTRACYTOPLASMIC SPERM INJECTION (ICSI) -- GESTATIONAL SURROGACY A gestational surrogate is a woman who carries a pregnancy for another individual. She does not have a genetic link to the child she is carrying. Gestational surrogacy is used when there is an anatomical or medical contraindication to pregnancy, and in some cases of repeated reproductive failure. Surrogacy may also be used in conjunction with donor oocytes to allow gay couples to build a family. We work closely with several surrogacy programs in the Los Angeles area. Patients initiate a consult with the surrogacy program, are matched with a gestational surrogate, and then continue their medical care in our office. The medical principles used in the treatment of the gestational carrier and biological parent are the same as those used with donor oocytes and recipients (see donor oocytes overview). ---------------------------------------------------------------- |
